The traditional costume, a Mexican handicraft.

One of the categories that gave the most to talk about this year during the contest was that of “typical dress” where our Mexican representative shone by wearing a spectacular outfit inspired by an Alebrije made by an Oaxacan artisan, such an original outfit quickly became viral in networks causing amazement among outsiders and connoisseurs of these mythical creatures themselves.

According to Oaxacan culture, it represents real or fantastic animals that are molded by artisans, generally in Copal wood and are characterized by their cheerful colors. The beautiful outfit, as well as the poise, elegance and pride with which Andrea wore it, impressed the judges of the pageant, thus deserving the crown of Miss Universe 2020.

Conclusions

Although contests such as Miss Universe are continually questioned considering that they evaluate women under superficial standards, it is well known that year after year the concept of the program aims to reward much more than beauty. An example of this is our worthy representative who has proven to be not only beautiful, but an intelligent, strong and capable woman, who has known how to raise the name of Mexico and with her wardrobe decisions revive our traditions and exalt the work of our artisans, and if something is certain, the Alebrijes will be a topic of conversation this year, which will surely give a boom to elements such as Mexican jewelry made in silver, our Talavera, and handmade textile, among many more that with quality have earned the international prestige.
