These silver pieces were made from the original Margot de Taxco molds by a talented gentleman, Señor Melesio Rodriguez Villalba, who worked with Margot Van Voorhies Carr for 24 years, and now, at his almost eighty years of age, he continues making these beautiful pieces. He was responsible for the execution of many of Margot's designs. His artist's registry number of "MR." "TR-114" is widely recognized as one that uses Margot's original molds.
These earrings are sterling silver. I'm sure you've seen this classic Margot's piece before. These ones are plain silver; they do not have any enamel, except for the little details in red, just on the eyes, neck, and nose. They are a wonderful design, produced by "Margot de Taxco." It was first introduced in the early 1950s. In 1954 this design won first place in the national silver fair, celebrated every year in Taxco, Mexico. You can see why; just take a look at the wonderful detail and complex work, which makes them very special.
These post earrings are not marked because they are sold as a set, and the matching necklace and bracelet carry all the markings. These are the only pieces I have left from those complete sets.
These pieces were made with a "980" sterling silver purity, a better quality silver than the most common 925.
Please take a look at the extra photos for more details on these wonderful silver pieces.
